To say it has been quite a year for Puerto Rican duo Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee might be an understatement. In addition to being up for three awards at the 2018 Grammys — Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance — the remix for the pair's ubiquitous jam "Despacito" also tied the all-time record for the longest run at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. It's streak of 16 weeks is only matched by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day." Along the way, it also became the most streamed song of all time, the most successful YouTube ever, and was one of our favorite tracks of 2017.
So, of course the pair opted to perform "Despacito" at this year's Grammys. Absent was the song's other star, Justin Bieber, who earlier in the week noted he preferred to work on the studio rather than appear at the ceremony. But that's the thing about "Despacito," it stands just fine without the help of Bieber, with the duo offering an inspired take on the song, full of plenty of skimpy outfits, provocative dancing, and audience members singing along.
